Celebrity Haircolor Formulas

With Color by Robert Craig

By using Color by Robert Craig and Robert's Professional highlight kit you can achieve many of these looks at home. We hope you enjoy your new haircolor and have as much fun doing it as we did putting this page together.

Please note: The timings mentioned below are for virgin hair and are estimates. A strand test is always recommended. There is an article on strand testing here.

Mariah Carey Celebrity Mariah Carey: Blonde

What you need:
#15 Golden Beige Blonde, #16 Light Ash Blonde, #21 Clear, Ultra Blonde Highlight kit.

How it's done:
Mariah's base color is very dark brown. Her hair is heavily highlighted and toned with a cool toned color. Using the Ultrablonde highlight kit pull hair from every hole in the cap making sure that a medium amount of hair is pulled through. Approximately the thickness of the lead in a #2 pencil. Mix and apply the bleach to the hair avoiding getting any bleach in the holes in the cap. Allow the hair to lighten to a pale yellow. If the hair has not reached this shade by 90 minutes you may wish to remove the product with a damp cloth and mix and apply fresh product (you would need 2 kits or only mix half of the first kit saving half for another application). (see chart here.) Once the hair has reached the proper lightness remove the cap and rinse, shampoo and dry the hair. Mix the hair color by using one half #21 Clear, one quarter each #16 Light Ash Blonde and #15 Golden Beige Blonde. Process until a cleaned off piece is a pale, cool toned blonde. Refer to the strand testing instructions here. Rinse, shampoo and condition. Style as desired. You can use Robert Craig's Spray Shine after styling for additional shine on your finished hair style.

Sandra Bullock Celebrity Sandra Bullock: Dark Brown

What you need:
#3 Chocolate Brown,

How it's done:
Sandra's base color is a warm dark brown. This formula will work on hair that has a lot of grey or is not more than three shades lighter than her color. This will not work on hair that is darker than Sandra's. Mix the color according to instructions and if on virgin hair apply to all the hair and time according to the results of your strand test. If using over already colored hair then apply only to the new growth for the majority of time and then apply to the rest of the hair for the last 5 minutes or so. Use your strand test as a guide for timing. Refer to the strand testing instructions here. Rinse, shampoo and condition. Style as desired. You can use Robert Craig's Mousse for hold and extra conditoning.

Teri Hatcher Celebrity Teri Hatcher: Dark Cool Brown

What you need:
#2 Ash Brown

How it's done:
Teri's color changes often from medium to darker brown shades and from slightly warm to cooler tones. We prefer her color in the dark, cool tones as shown in this picture. This formula will work on hair that has a lot of grey or is not more than three shades lighter than her color. This will not work on hair that is darker than Teri's. Mix the color according to instrucitons and if on virgin hair apply to all the hair and time according to the results of your strand test. If using over already colored hair then apply only to the new growth for the majority of time and then apply to the rest of the hair for the last 5 minutes or so. Use your strand test as a guide for timing. Refer to the strand testing instructions here. Rinse, shampoo and condition. Style as desired.

Kelly Ripa Celebrity Kelly Ripa: Blonde

What you need:
Ultra Blonde Highlight kit, possibly #19 Light Golden Blonde, #21 Clear,

How it's done:
Kelly's base color is a brown shade. Her hair is heavily highlighted and has changed over the years from a warm golden color to a very cool toned almost white color. We prefer her in the slightly warmer tones as they tend to add more color to her face. This picture represents our prefrence. If you prefer the white blonde look then only purchase the Ultrablonde highlight kit and do not use the color over it that is mentioned below. Mix the hair color by using half #21 Clear, half #19 Light Golden Blonde. Process until a cleaned off piece is a pale, golden toned blonde. Refer to the strand testing instructions here. Rinse, shampoo and condition. Style as desired.

Heather Locklear Celebrity Heather Locklear: Blonde

What you need:
Ultra Blonde Highlight kit

How it's done:
Heather's base color is a brown shade. Her hair is heavily highlighted and has also changed over the years from a warm golden color to a very cool toned almost white color. We prefer her in the cool tones as this picture represents. If you prefer the white blonde look then only purchase the Ultrablonde highlight kit and do not use the color over it that is mentioned below. Refer to the strand testing instructions here. Rinse, shampoo and condition. Style as desired. We advise using Robert's Shampoo for Color Treated hair and the regular Conditioner to add necessary moisture to the hair since taking hair this light can be drying. If you want to tone the hair the more warm golden color mentioned above, then after the hair is shampooed and dried use the #19 all over for 5 minutes just to add some gold to the hair (strand test for timing). Rinse, shampoo and style as desired.

Fergie Celebrity Fergie: Blonde

What you need:
Ultra Blonde Highlight kit, #16 Light Ash Blonde, #21 Clear

How it's done:
Fergie's base color is a brown shade. Her hair is heavily highlighted and has also changed over the years from light brown shades to super blonde. We prefer her in the light cool tones as this picture represents. If you look at the silver dress and her eye color, the color of the hair looks great and accents both. Mix the hair color by using 2/3 #21 Clear, 1/3 #16 Light Ash Blonde. Process until a cleaned off piece is a pale, cool toned blonde. Refer to the strand testing instructions here. Rinse, shampoo and condition. Style as desired.

Meg's base color is the Golden Beige Blonde. If you are darker than this shade you will need to use an on-scalp lightener to get slightly lighter than this shade. (see chart at this page) If you are as light or lighter, or have pre lightened your hair, then apply #15 Golden Beige Blonde to clean, dry hair. Process for full 45 minutes. Process until a cleaned off piece is between red/orange and orange. Refer to the chart on the above mentioned page. Rinse, shampoo and dry the hair.
